Cosmos watched his strengthening duplicate wander down Kaia’s earthy pathway.

He had found that rather than helping him with extra duties, he often found him scrutinising himself. Kaia told him he would be able to see the differences within himself, but everything he saw, he despised. It was a mirror that reflected far too clearly.

At first, it was fantastic, his productivity doubled and he connected more with his herd than ever. Then slowly he saw the way he interacted with the herd. The way they looked at him with disdain when he approached. They probably thought he was bringing more dismay their way.

He started to compared himself to the bulky raiders who oozed with confident power. He envied the way they talked back to whoever whispered a word of disapproval and took it further if need be. No one would dare whisper an insult under their breath about a raider. But as Cosmos learned, the Stone Circle didn’t always demand the same respect. When his duplicate’s back was turned, the horses glared and pulled faces and it completely disheartened the stallion. He thought he was in a fantastic place within his herd, but found everything unravelling. From the divide of the Circle between the threats from Serora thanks to prancy Aodh and the pressing Bloody Flank issues, to the rapidly declining respect for the circle from the herd and the War Lord herself.

Cosmos let his real self go. Where he typically had a sharp appearance, mane and tail tightly bound, he had let loose. He hadn’t groomed in quite some days and he didn’t mind. He just watched his duplicate take over the work load.
