Description
A Steam-Punk tank design sketch. I've always been intrigued by spider like robots/machines and scorpion shapes. This would be light artillery, with a sniping gun at top.
I've got some better designs in mind, but the sketch took on a life of its own.

I admire how reminiscent this is of Keith Thompson's artwork. (He was the illustrator for the LeviathanΒ series of novels set in an alternate WW1).

When I saw "Scorpion Tank," I was expecting a steampunked version of the tank from the "Halo" games.
Nice design!

Ooh, I like how 3-dimensional the scorpion looks! Awesome details on that tail
I think the lady shows off the fine machinery well and I like her clothes!

Awesome, though I don't know if I would call it Steampunk.

Yeah, it's not clearly steam driven, nor Victorian in style... I beg your indulgence...

amazing picture, mine are terrible in comparison (im determined to make a steampunk tank with huge gears as wheels etc.), i hope you do more like this and add to the steampunk army.
ps scorpions have 8 legs don't they? or 6 and pinceres?

Thanks for the comment!
Well, I started out with the idea of a steampunk walking motorcycle with a babe next to it. But my brain had other things in mind. :/
Not sure how many legs a scorpion has, and yeah, no claws on this 'tank'. But that's the way art works sometimes...
Good luck with your stuff! Don't get discouraged. Draw daily and challenge yourself to improve. It ain't easy, as I've got a full time job, family, etc. Time I've got, but energy I don't have... sigh...

This is like a 300% better version of my spider bot.

I'm new to this site and getting into drawing. So far I only have old sketches on my page and haven't done anything good recently.
P.S. The girl is kinda random. Did you put her in to cover the odd angle pointing towards the viewer that would define the basic geometry of the vehicle?

Keep on drawing, creation64. Most importantly, have fun and experiment.
As for the gal, I was going to have her lean against the machine, but that kinda failed. She doesn't belong there, or rather, she's not dressed for such a job/machine.
So, I didn't have a purpose in her final pose, it just kinda happened.
It's one of those sketches that once you start, you can't stop. Which is rare for me. But it's kinda heavenly to be so engrossed. I guess it's the same thing musicians feel when they're 'in a groove'?
A sketch like that would've taken me 15 hours years ago, this one only took about 2 hours total.
