Well, I'm counting this as my first deviation ever, because I've been gone for so long.About the piece:
This was designed in one long night (and a day) after I was upset with my Digital Illustration teacher. It's of a caterpillar for a "children's book page" assignment. He originally wanted me to make the page I designed "as detailed and realistic as possible" I thought that was a dumb idea. So I trashed the design he wanted me to do and did something that I would like to put in my portfolio.
(I don't know if that's all rambling or if it made sense)
I'm content with it, but I know I'd still like to take some time to revise some of it.
Critiques? comments? ...anyone surprised that I actually logged onto here?
(original size 2400 x 3000 pixels, 8 x 10" 300 dpi I downsized it)

I don't mind at all.
I created it mostly in Adobe Flash CS3. I started working on it in Adobe Illustrator, but I like the vector tools better in Flash. I find them easier to use.

I don't know, I actually asked him that myself. In my opinion children's book, shouldn't look photo-realistic. So, I just didn't do it that way.
I still haven't received any feedback from my teacher either. So who knows what he's thinking of the final I handed to him.

Realistic? And children's book? In my opinion, those two don't exactly go together, so seeing this instead of what "should have been" is nice. I like it. I find it has more of a children's book feel to it. I like the effect that it seems to give...the look that every part is a "cut out" as if you took construction paper and pasted it. I
