Beautiful picture, its strikes me how alot of HIV+ and Aids sufferers tend to hide there faces in pictures, and how incredably sad that is. I've features this picture in my journal for Aids awareness day, I hope thats alright with you?

Where was this shot taken? For the past few months I've been doing a project of all the natural disasters that've occurred between Sept. 1st - Nov. 30th. And even though AIDS or any humanized disease isn't counted as a natural disasters this still moved me to tears.

It's been horribly depressing reading all about the hunger, deaths, misplacement, refugees, and poverty in the world that's been happening all in one month even within the 3 months of this project. In September alone, various natural disasters have affected millions upon millions of people.

Our world, (people, animals and the planet itself) is dying and yet the greater number of us lift not a finger to help prevent the death that surrounds us. Gradual it may be in some circumstances, but in others it happens within the second.

Every 5 seconds a child dies of hunger. Every night 850 million people go to bed hungry. Bringing in global warming into the picture; the world itself is trying to repair itself from the damage we've caused. If we stop, today, all the carbon dioxide emissions, it will still take another 500,000 years for the earth to return to normal. That's IF we stop TODAY. We're not, and it's sickeningly obvious, so that debt only increases over the years.

Wonderful job! It's touching and real. I think the black and white gives it much more emotional power than it would have being in color. Excellent!

I love the clarity of this shot. Well done.

The message is clear , but the problem is so complex ... i wish we can all have a little more compassion for others.

Wesley, did you give him a dollar or two? HIV is terrifying - I think a lot of people are aware it's a bad thing that can kill you, but don't know exactly what it is, how it works, and what exactly it does to you and in which ways. Having had a dangerously near encounter with the virus, I feel for anyone that has it. A touching photo!

Cheers!

thanks. thats what i want people to realize- everyone has a story. everyone is a human being, each with a unique and equally heart warming story. everyone, from that person on the bus to the person on the street is no different from you... i want to somehow connect with that inner humanity....

(blah blah blah i am rambling on too much. ill stop now. i just wanted to thank you for your comment )

Wow thats a great shot, I love how his face is not in the picture. It really puts it in perspective because he could be anyone in any town, we have all seen them. His message is very powerful. I doubt it gets him much positive attention however. Great capture
