A piece of art I can actually say that I'm proud of. I tried out using SAI's many functions that I previously overlooked like the brush and water tools. I also studied a little bit about how leaves look like. At the same time, I actually tried out some of the concepts I learnt at school, something about contrasting colors at the opposing side of the color wheel.

In a nutshell, I just tried out everything I could. I didn't expect much, but the result looks great. I actually think that this may be my best work thus far.

Rambling for those who actually care about how I did this.
Snivy was a natural fit, I just thought that I'd give the first ever Pokemon I drew in digital another try. Sticking with the theme of contrasts, I thought of autumn, which was a season that I commonly associate with the color orange, which directly contrasts green, which is the dominant color on Snivy. I also thought that Snivy, being a Grass-type, wouldn't be familiar with the falling, wilted leaves which autumn brought along. Sunsets, which are also orange, makes it a rather good time, add that with my love of drawing skies and you can really see why I chose that. The leaf on the right actually contrasts the dark blue sky rather well, but that's just my opinion.

The sky was drawn simply by stealing a base red color from a stock photograph found online, then the rest of the colors (except the blue) was derived from that. Random brush strokes all in the same direction, then coupled with low density water tool strokes that have 0 dilution and low blending. Then a little blur was added on the rough edges.

Random shininess was something I did not just because I wanted to, but also because of some techincal difficulties that came with a bad save of an earlier version. Tell me if you hate it, it seems like a recurrent theme in my drawings.

Rock textures are something else I worked on. My old Flareon Pic had the same style of rocks, but this time, I just thought that I'd build up upon it.
