This is a very charming piece for a quaint fairy story-- or a parable. I love the wolf as the fairy tale menace that he is, his hands look great.

Not really sure what it has to do with finance (maybe how banks are bullying the little guy??), but I love the nostalgia here. This is lovely

Thank you!
It's been a long time since I created this, but I think the pigs represented secure investments.

PASTELSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
That's my favorite medium to use! I hardly ever see anyone working with them. So it's so refreshing to see this over something like digital or graphite!
It looks fantastic. What kind of paper do you use?
Although what strikes me as odd is how relaxed and soft this picture is. I personally try to make high contrasts and strong colors with sharp definition between objects. This is the exact opposite, and don't get me wrong, it looks great. I just haven't seen it done like this before. You executed this style perfectly
So kudos to you. This opens my mind to trying an approach to pastels like the one you use. I.e, not worrying so much about sharpness and contrast.

I'm glad you like it! Apart from graphite, pastels is really all I know. I had intended to move on to oils years ago, but it just never happened.
It's intriguing to me that what you like about this piece is what I am often frustrated with - lack of contrast. Too often if I am drawing purely from my imagination I shy away from contrast. Sometimes it's a real struggle. Some ideas really need that contrast, whereas this piece, not so much.
The paper is something like Canson Mi Tientes. It works well enough and all the local art stores have it. Although, I just finished a poster on a much rougher pastel board. Not sure what it is, but I really liked it. It held the pigment extremely well, so much so that while blending there was much less residual dust. However, because the Canson paper does not have the grit/grain it is much easier to remove pigment (with a Q-tip or cotton ball) whereas this newer board really made me work to remove pigment. Even then I couldn't get it all off.
I hope that's some help to you.
Jeff
