Calicos and Tortoiseshells are the same cat, believe it or not.
In the United States, a Calico is ginger, white and black (or grey). A Tortoiseshell is black and ginger.
In the United Kingdom, a Tortoiseshell is black and ginger OR ginger, white and black (or grey).

actually there are male torties, they are just very rare XD and usually end up passing away before they reach adulthood =[.... they also cannot have kittens.....Redtail was a male tortie... they said it in the books....

No, you're thinking of calicos with the male/female thing. Torties are common in both genders. And they can have kittens.

you mean the family trees on Warriorcats.com...yess it does say that but the erins stated in author chats that the family trees are wrong, and that they themselves (the erins) never made it, and never really thought about the parents of the main characters.......i kno it stinks, i would like to kno who her parents were too!

The computer was being slow...I must have pushed it twice in my haste. ^-^ The erins always change their minds on whose parents were whose. Like in one of thier books, they said that Moonflower was Bluestar's mother, but then in the FAQ it said that she was Duskflower's kin. I was like, "What the heck?!" I don't know, it's just really confusing.
