“What devil or witch was ever so great as Attila whose blood flows in these veins? Know that while history has called me by many names, one has echoed throughout the ages in infamy. Dracula. Son of the dragon. Son of the devil. During my old life I was a warrior, a ruler, and a sorcerer. My life’s dream was to see my nation of Wachallia independent, no longer a meer pawn of the Hungarians and Turks. To see that dream fulfilled, I first had to purge it from a great evil which plagued it. The Scholomance. A cavernous fortress in which the commoners believed the devil himself taught magic to his disciples. A folktale not far from the truth. It was here that the first vampire, which we then called strigoi, resided. Strahd Von Zarovich. The oldest and most powerful of his kind. His fellow strigoi spawn adherent to his every command. Ten of which he would choose as students to learn from him the darkest of magical arts. The greatest of these ten would be given command of his dragon to rage storms and other such havoc while the rest scoured the land to find targets worthy of their wrath. All this while they sustained themselves eternally with the blood of the living people. My people. With the aid of my companion Gabriel Anatolie, my most trusted seeker of magic knowledge, I lead my armies to wipe this blight from the face of Wachallia. It took much struggle and many lives. But in the end Strahd perished at the end of my own blade. In his dying moments he told me of a prophecy that the man who slayed Strahd would inherit all of his powers, if he partook of Strahd’s own blood. And if he partake in the blood of the living also, the curse would become permanent. Against my once friend Gabriel’s wishes, I secretly kept two small vials of his blood. I would need it. For when the Turks invaded my country the power I attained from drinking it increased my strength and magic to levels beyond my imagining. With this I drove the Turks from my land and brought salvation to my people. How was I repaid for bringing peace and order to my people? They betrayed me. Stripped of my powers and my throne, I was left to rot in a Hungarian prison. Unbeknownst to them, I kept the second vile hidden. With it I regained all my powers and this time bound them to me forever with the blood of the living. Now I rule all of the night, and one day the whole world shall kneel before the name of Dracula. As I impose true order upon the weak and feeble world of men. I shall have vengeance upon my former Seeker who has hounded me throughout the centuries. He and all who oppose me shall learn once again, why they fear the night.”
I've been meaning to do this for a while now. This is sort of my take on the character Dracula for a story I've been working on where he takes the role of the main antagonist. It takes inspiration from a combination of features from some of my favorite versions of Dracula. I know his posture seems a bit stiff here. But that was mainly because I was making up details basically as I went along, and when drawing a character for the first time I usually just want to set up a layout for their overall appearance. The background was a bit of a rush, I just wanted to get it done. Let me know what you guys thing both regarding the drawing and the backstory I made to go along with it.
Powers:
Immortality: As long as he continuously feeds on the blood of the living, Dracula can never die. While he always remains a peak vampiric physicality, he must feed sufficiently to maintain his youthful appearance. Most physical attacks have little to no effect on him (save for steak through the heart or decapitation). Poisons and disease also have no effect on Dracula.
Blood Sucking: Dracula can feed on the blood of living people, draining them even to death in a matter of seconds.
Superhuman Physicality: Physical traits enhanced higher than that of any normal vampire. Strength of 100,000 to 100,000,000 tons. Speed fast enough to dodge bullets. Durability strong enough to remain unphased by even bullets (baring silver ones). Agility beyond what any human can do. Heightened senses. Regenerative healing.
Shapeshifting: Dracula can assume the form of a bat, wolf, or cloud of mist.
-Dracula can also take on a hulking bat-human hybrid form in which his strength peaks.
Flight: Dracula can fly even in his non-winged forms effortlessly. He can also defy gravity to walk or crawl vertically on any surface.
Hypnosis: Dracula has a hypnotic power that can ben the will of most others to his own, and can even read minds when in close proximity.
Command Animals: Dracula has the power to control the minds of creatures of the night such as bats, wolves, owls, rats, insects, vultures, crows, and owls.
Enhanced Sorcery: Dracula has been a master sorcerer long before becoming a vampire. But his vampiric curse enhances his level of power with them to a degree no human sorcerer can hope to match. Even surpassing what normal vampires are capable of. Includes destruction spells, charms, alteration, conjuration, weather manipulation and necromancy.
Teleportation: Dracula can become one with the shadows to teleport without the effort required by any normal sorcerer.
Claws: Dracula’s clawed hands can be as sharp as any sword blade.
Vampiric Creation: Dracula can pass the curse of the vampire to others if he wishes. By feeding on them in a hypnotized state he can turn them into the less powerful ‘vampire spawn’ whose existence is tied to his own. Or by also feeding his own blood to his victims can turn them into fully fledged vampires like himself.
Weakness Immunity: By some unknown means, Dracula has gradually been building immunity to his vampiric weaknesses and restrictions. To the point where he can stand in open sunlight unscathed.
Skills
Master Combatant: Dracula has centuries of experience in all forms of combat from all over the world. Including hand-to-hand, swordsmanship, archery, various melee weapons, and firearms.
Master Tactician: Dracula has a brilliant strategic mind both in battle and in other areas such as politics. Often making plans for events years in advance.
Master Seducer: Dracula has a charismatic seduction towards others even without his vampiric powers. This has allowed him to become a master manipulator over the years.
Allies
The Wolfman: A ruthless and sadistic psychopath who revels in the carnage of killing. Wreaking havoc as a werewolf Dracula saw him as a useful pawn and enhanced his abilities further with his own magic.
Formorians: Tribes of monster of various shapes and sizes recounted in Irish mythology. Dracula freed them from their imprisonment and now uses them as his army. Make up the bulk of his minions.
Solomonar Dragon: Romanian Balaur with gold scales and twelve heads. Mutated by dark magic to possess traits of aquatic, terrestrial, and aerial varieties of its natural species. Can summon powerful storms with ease and never tires during flight. Slain by at the battle of the Scholomance, but later resurrected by Dracula as a dracolich.
Professor Moriarty: The napoleon of crime. Runs a syndicate of organized crime and has been known to do business with Dracula.
Enemies
The Seeker: Friend turned enemy. A master sorcerer who survived centuries by transferring his consciousness into new bodies.
Frankenstien’s Monster: Reanimated creation of a mad scientist. Indestructible with super strength.
Sherlock Holmes: The world’s greatest detective.
