Bit odd that the sky around the sun is lighter than the sun, since the sun is a ball of light. Nice trees, somewhat Bob Ross-esque.

I try to answer. There is this fog and mist around it.
Usually mist reflects light as I remember.
I understand this is hard to re-paint and maybe the photo quality doesn't help either.

First of all I must say that practizing drawing before painting might be a good idea. I never had the patience to draw. But that means I can never paint people or such things.
Second, I can't help you with colors because I never did oil painting. But since acrylics can be used with water I would say they are easier to work with for a beginner.
Watercolor paintings require that special thin coloring style that is not easy at the beginning.
