Ah, I think I've erred. The link is now fixed. Thanks for letting me know but that's all the chloroformin' action you'll see in the comic.

Thanks! The credit for the black panels go to Josh Eiserike (the writer). It's been magnificent working with him.

This is quite possibly my favorite page of the entire book. Big kudos to Zac for knocking it out of the park! (I know I drove him a bit crazy trying to figure this out in my head and communicate with him for the page).
Also, since reading a 120-something page comic at a page a week is not an ideal way to read a book, to save you the time of going back and looking at character wardrobe and such, we're from Lucy's POV on this page, as she wakes up, groggy, from being knocked out by Niagara on the roof.

Josh, it was no problem at all. This comic has been challenging for me but in a good way. You always pushed me further artistically, which I'm grateful. Knowing my own comfort zones as an artist, in my own work, I'm more likely to draw what I feel comfortable drawing, but your no-holds-barred writing pushed me out of that zone, making me a better artist, overall. Plus, I love bringing your story to life.

Hey! Isn't that...and what's she...and who's blanking out under chloroform with the bodacious knockers? LOL, Josh and Zac sure know how to keep us guessing!
As an aside, ~Knight-BIshop made an interesting statement below that I think reflects on the point of this whole comic: the fact that superheroes shouldn't exist for danger of them being used as tools of the government. IMO, I seriously believe humanity cannot be enlightened or empowered without terrible consequences. The human mind is very weak in the face of strong sources of temptation, and to tempt someone with the power to destroy whole cities and scores of people...well, I think even the "good guys" would eventually be warped to evil if pushed far enough.
As heroic as one might think Virginia is right now in this sequence, the real hero is the guy on the previous page saying "We have to help her!" in spite of being surrounded by heavily armed agents and having no chance of fighting a monster like Niagara. True heroism are the spontaneous moments of selfless action people take to help each other in the face of overwhelming odds. They are the inspirations for unity in a world full of division. And if superheroes (as we know them in comic books) were to ever be a reality in some form or fashion, well...I just hope they aren't stooges or creations of the government. For them to be so would never earn the respect or admiration of the people, and that, I think, is the tragedy of Virginia's superpowered life. < /commentary >

That's Lucy with the bodacious knockers, left along with Pete up on the roof in the rain.
By the way, I just wanted to commend you on your thoughtful comment. I think you make some great points on what constitutes a hero and the dangers of having people with monstrous super powers. It's definitely a question of "Who watches the watchers"?

The figure lying on the ground (whose generous cleavage we see) is Lucy, not Virginia. Lucy was left on the roof while Niagara and Virginia, fighting each other, fell through the roof below.

Whoa, Zak using digital effects!! That's a new one and very well done.
I think this is one of my favorites pages now, it is super cinematographic and I loved how you really can imagine her in her own eyes.

Thanks, Jade! I'm an old fashioned artist, preferring to do things by hand. I even tried out creating a blur effect by hand but, after doing it in Photoshop, it looked so much better, so I went with it instead. There are some amazing effects you can create with a computer, no doubt about it.

Lucy, left on the roof by the dueling Volcano Girl and Niagara, has just woken up to find some mysterious figure do something to Pete (also left on the roof by the two fighting superheroes). That strange figure then approaches Lucy and chloroforms her.

Thanks. I tried drawing the blurry effect out by hand but Josh and I were won over what you could do in Photoshop, instead. It took quite a bit of trial and error, though.

Wow this page is absolutely awesome. The dreaded first person view, from a dreaded position, and it's rendered perfectly! And the whole page is so fascinatingly disturbing! Now I'm going to bed, but first thing tomorrow morning I'm getting to read the Anyone but Virginia's pages I'm still missing.

Thanks! I love drawing Virginia, but this page, for, some strange reason, was particularly fun to draw.
The blur effect was created using Photoshop. It was a little complex, as I had to create multiple layers, one where Lucy is not blurred and the other where Pete, the mysterious figure, and the background are all blurred. I thought about creating the blurred effect by hand (drawing it myself), but this version looked much better.

You are welcome Zac. Yeah, doing it blurry by hand may have been a chanllege, but one that would be a great learing experiance. I may try it myself for fun to see what the results may be.

Superheros should not exsist, in real life. Because there will always be people and organizations out there who will use them for their own selfish purposes. And the Military will exploit them as well for the purposes of making their country Superior.

Definitely agree with you in that not only would they be used as tools, but also be tempted to assume control for themselves. Even the so-called "good guys" would eventually succumb to the temptation that "their way" is the best way for everyone. It would be tyranny with a literal iron fist.

indeed, and we already have enough problems with power mad dictators with large militaries...Stalin, Kim Jong Il, Hitler, Gaddafi. The last thing we need are flying superpeople that can crush a tank with one punch
