Description
Here is a drawing I did for Estheryu ( ) for her doujinshi about mermaids. Originally, I was going to draw just one (the one with the black hair and the fin pushed forward) but then I started messing around with other mermaid designs. Eventually, I decided to incorporate them all, creating a sort of multicultural group of mermaids.I created Latino, African, Asian, and Caucasian mermaids.

I think this is one of my favorite drawings in the entire gallery. I often feel my drawings are over-rendered, but this one has just the right amount of detail and shading and I think the drawings are beautiful. I don't often feel that way about my art.

The short-haired one is actually the Caucasian, the long-curly haired one is the Latino.

*fave'd* ... Witty and delightful! I love the way the fish are hiding in the Latina's hair. And it's refreshing to see several mermaids that aren't the more-or-less standard blue-eyed Swedish Bikini Team with Tail type {grin}

Thanks! Since there was a great deal of mermaid art out there in DA land, I just wanted to try something a little different. I love drawing women and this allowed me to draw a wide range of them, all with fish tails, of course.

I highly recommend you do post your drawings. I feel there are zillions of artists on DA who make me look pathetic, but that hasn't stopped me from posting. It's a great way to get critiques, show people your ideas, and meet people.

that......is an AWESOME mermaid fro!!! the caucasion one has the best face, i think, while the asian one has the best tail. but then again, they're all great!! love it! did you use a pencil or ink?

oh really? mecha penicls are great for details, but tough for lots of dark coloring and shading. you did good on this. keep up the fine work!
