Description
This is Damocles -- a superhero creation of mine (thanks to Sean Izaakse!) who is confined to his chair, lest he lose his powers and again feel the full effects of his cerebral palsy (CP). As far as I know this is the first CP superhero. Anyway, this guy is modeled loosely from a cool kid I know who does have CP, and I'm hoping to use the Stan Lee Foundation's "Create A Superhero" contest to open up awareness of this disorder -- and get the kid a trip to Comicon 2011!You can vote here: [link]

Thx much!! The artist did a great job capturing my thoughts, and we had to do very few reworks to get the final "just right". I love this character, and I can't WAIT to write him into a story...!
Thanks again!

I can understand your frustration on the name being used. I created a character at least 15 years ago that I named "StarBorn". But I really never had the talent to do anything with it (unlike you). And now Stan Lee has a character named that.

don't give to Marvel the character rights or to another publisher, Make your own comic like others like McFarlane or Silvestri, and if the character becomes famous like batman or captain america will be a legend in the future don't you think?

Nah, I'd keep my characters for sure. They're my babies... so to speak. It'd take a lot for me to give them up.

Frustratingly, I watched an episode of Avengers: Earth's Mightiest last night with Kang as the enemy... he called his chair "Damocles". < π: 0 β©: 2
Yeah, I know this isn't the first Damocles, but still... now folks will think I came up with this guy because of the show. Oh, well. I guess I won't worry about that.

Charlie if it can cheer you up somehow, the "Damocles" Kang is refering to isn't the flying chair, it's the sword-shaped spaceship.

HaHA! Thanks FC -- that does make me feel a bit better.
It's funny how most folks related "Damocles" to "sword", but I don't think the masses understand the relationship. The sword was the smallest part of the story, but it was part of the climax -- really the crux of it all. Still others don't realize the phrase, "It's good to be the king" didn't start with Mel Brooks, but was based on this short story.
Thanks again!

Conceptually, the name is a much better fit for your guy, since the loss of power and the return of his illness hangs above him likeβ¦ well, y'knowβ¦
