It was now noontime and Shadow and Cosmo were still inside the cave. Shadow kept on looking at the sky and said, "When's that damn moon gonna rise?" Cosmo kept on looking at Shadow, trembling. Finally, she said, "At that time, when you became a hero, I thought that you weren't much of a killer." Shadow turned around to see Cosmo at the verge of tears. Cosmo finished, "But, I thought wrong. I guess I am an enemy to you, Shadow." Shadow smirked, chuckled and said, "So, you finally gave in, plant-girl. That's good. Can't wait for the moonrise." Cosmo said, "I don't want to die like this. If this is how you're gonna be, then it would have been better if you hadn't saved me and Chris when Dark Oak captured us. If this is how you're gonna be, it would have been better if you hadn't helped Sonic defeat the Metarex. If this is how you're gonna be, it would have been better if...it would have been better if..." She then yelled out, "IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER IF MARIA HADN'T LET YOU MADE THAT PROMISE!!!" Shadow gasped. Cosmo ran away. Shadow stared blankly for a while. He then remembered all of the events that happened in his life:waking up from a deep sleep, countering Cosmo and trying to kill her and Tails and turning super to help Sonic stop the Metarex. He then remembered Maria being shot in front of his own eyes and saying, "Shadow....please...promise me. Promise me that you make friends with the people on Earth and not kill them. Do it for me, Shadow. Please..." Shadow then said, "What have I done? I almost let Maria down. I have to find Cosmo and apologize." He folded his hands and whispered, "Please forgive me, Maria..." He then ran outside of the cave to look for Cosmo.
