I disagree with your idea that acting differently around certain people is always wrong...'cause I don't see it as not being yourself as much as simply showing different facets of yourself to different people.
BUT I definitely agree with your disdain for people who try to be things they are not, including those who really do act like completely different people in front of some people and that is why I love this photograph. Something I always "preach" is to just be yourself and stop putting superficial labels on ourselves and personally, I think this picture really speaks to that idea as well. There's just something truly deep and thought provoking in this picture...I have to fav it and it definitely deserves the DD; congrats!

yes i must agree, there are situations where it may not be suited, but then why can't you be the same person around everyone else? it must be because you are trying to fit into something that you shouldn't be or acting wrongly around certain people that isn't accepted with a different group..

Well, its not that way for me. Like I said, its all "me" just different facets of me that I show when I deem appropriate. An example is that I tend to be more reserved and solemn around people I don't know very well but goofy and brash around those that I do. Its not because I feel as though I'd be acting wrongly around people I don't know, just that I feel more comfortable being more outgoing around people I know better. The exact reason, I'm not sure but I believe it has a lot to do with the fact that I usually don't trust people I don't know and only begin to really trust someone once I know them. However, everyone eventually sees most sides of me (like strangers have seen my silly side while my family very often sees my reserved, shy side), so I don't feel as though I'm acting like a different person but rather just showing different sides at different times. Its all me...I guess you could say I'm just really...."dynamic" lol. All people are.
But, I think at some point everyone goes through a time where they have to conform. Its sadly a part of our society I think 'cause if you don't blend in, you usually get hurt. If you haven't, you're so lucky 'cause it really, really sucks lol. When I was younger, I went through that conforming period where I would do whatever the people around me were doing just to be accepted. It often made me act completely different around certain people, and I hated it. I don't do that anymore thankfully, but I know people who still do and I understand why. When you don't adapt to whatever group you're currently around, you get ridiculed, persecuted, teased, bullied, etc. And I've had my share of that...But while I may act differently around different people, its not to that extent where I lose who I am (anymore) and I think that's the important distinction between the good and the bad of acting that way. I won't do something I normally won't do or that I'm not comfortable doing simply because I'm around a different person, lol.
Did that make any sense >.> I tried to cut it a little short so I wasn't rambling again. I go off on tangents very easily......
And you're welcome; I'm always an appreciator of good art! ^^ Sometimes I wish I could think a little more abstractly than I do now so that I can do art like that...but I'm working on it!

good work fave, but i do not agree with idea of haw all pipl shold be what they realy are, whitout of mask, if this would be truth you would be having more killers, violent man who suppres their anger with powerof commen sense. There is a lot of potentialy dangerous people, and if they all show they real side, world would be a uglie rplace.

everybody wears masks, and has a repertoire of masks. the nearest you can get to your "true" self is when you are alone or/and in the psychedelic experience.
but that depends how you define "true self". if you include the masks which are undoubtably a part of yourself, everything is ok
