Ed started out a lot scarier. My first thoughts were a Bull like Mexican Wrestler hence the big belt and pants. The 'X's on his legs are supposed to represent the laces of his wrestling boots.Related content

Eduardo's my favorite from the show. It's so awesome to see some of the different designs you came up with for him. Wonderful shapes! I really love that drawing near the middle of page, of Eduardo walking with Bloo.
Even though a big scary Eduardo could be cool, I'm glad he came out the way he did.

The big and burly version of Eduardo just makes me giggle. I can only imagine how amusing it would've been to see his personality match up with that design! (Though I do love the big-and-squishy version just as much!)

Eduardo always struck me as getting some sort of basis from that old "Where The Wild Things Are" book. He does look like a more modern designed critter of that vein. ^_^

I am so happy that he doesn't have the five eyes, since that made him look really frightning. Funny though how he started out being a tough guy and ended up being so lovable.

I don't know if you know, but in the Mexican dub, Eduardo speaks with little sentences in English between phrases. He's so funny!

Apart from the eyes and body, it looks like Ed didn't go through that many facial changes. The tiny Eduardos in the top left corner remind me of "Where the Wild Things Are" for some odd reason

I am honesty shocked not to see a handle bar biker mustache on some of the early designs

I think the large side-fangs are sort of a representation of that; since he's already covered in hair, a real moustache wouldn't stand out as much.
