Last piece for 2014, barring any crazy huge chunks of time popping up
Β My own take on the classic beastie, wanted to push it with a bit more raggedness, a worn, weathered look of a hunter that has seen thousands of moons but still had the craving for the thrill of the hunt in its heart.

I wonder if dire wolves are where we eventually got our domesticated dogs from. If not, then it's a fun idea to have.
Or maybe early man was afraid of them.
That glowing eye of his looks so menacing, and I kinda like that. Maybe he's contemplating on if he should piss off some nearby Smilodon by stealing its dinner. I'm sure that a few members from a nearby Neanderthal tribe would appreciate watching the scene of a dire wolf running with stolen prey in its jaws, away from an enraged big fanged wild cat.

There were real dire wolves, they're now extinct (IIRC they lived around the same time sabertooth cats did) but they were pretty big; I think the average size was about where the largest wolf sizes fall, so the largest dire wolves were pretty big, over 150lbs+.
This was my take on the more fantastical versions from faerie tales and fantasy stories, so more supernatural than they would normally be

I love the way the glow of his eyes leave a trail of light fading behind, really gives the creature a sense of motion, and the overall design is just pure wicked!
