Twenty years ago I tried pencilling the first page for my comic and I think the core idea of it was set, the page felt 'okay', I think it looked nice lol, but there were things about it that felt very static to me, like a high-speed shutter capturing slices of time. That's how I used to illustrate things a lot, everything had to have this level of detail which I think stymied the fluidity of a situation.

I think it's just the roughness of some of the brushes I use, but I like the feel of things more these days, even if I've sacrificed a lot of the detailing that I used to strive for. Like I wouldn't commit this as a panel finished, but using this as a springboard to build off of to me feels like a better start than I would've been able to achieve when I was younger. I still have a long, long ways to go, most likely will never 'get there', but I'm content with how things have been progressing and using spitpaints as a platform to infuse some energy and movement into my work has helped me grow more as an artist, more at peace with the notion of 'happy accidents'
