I was thinking of doing either something overbearing and overworked, like a giant steam engine cluttered with junk that had a small portal somewhere where you could see an operator maintaining the engine, or something like this, more alien and scifi and grandiose, although withour proper scale this might just be a tiny engine in a futuristic space toy 🙂

The little red marks at the bottom were supposed to be a cluster of engineers, little dudes manning the operations of the engine as it churns out some sun-level energy to power whatever ship it is they're flying in. Lots of symmetry brush and noodling about with shapes, I like repetitions of slats and panels coming at receding angles, I just think they look neat for things like this, but something went awry at some point and my symmetry was off just a bit; I tried realigning things later into the piece but eventually just gave up as things were "good enough" and I went on from there.

Screen, overlay, color dodge, and linear dodge were used to get some of that warm engine glow going. Was worried that the color saturation would be really off moving between monitors but I think my calibration is a bit better now (still have to tinker with it)
