Agreed! I'm a retired Sailor with 12 years of unusually arduous sea duty, and I've been on water hours a few times. When you're at sea, you have to make your own fresh water, and that equipment can and does break. Since water is so plentiful normally, we don't really appreciate it properly. Try going a day without it. Seriously, water is a finite resource, so take care of it, everypony!

There are already problems close to where I live. The Chesapeake Bay has a massive "dead zone" in it, the worst we've seen in years. It's cause by runoff pollutants that feed microorganisms that deplete the oxygen in the water, so nothing else can live there. Then those microorganisms die, and there's just a big dead zone. The oceans are not naturally a fragile ecology, but years of unthinking abuse do take their toll. The wetlands and bays at their edges, however, fall into disrepair far more easily.
