Nice work. I was researching an article and found out this film "Lust for Life" and the book it was based on cemented rumors about van Gogh committing suicide that have recently been proved false. Apparently he did not commit suicide.

My question was, if he were under care of a doctor, how did he obtain a pistol, and nothing is said of what happened to the firearm.......

Sadly van Gogh had just been declared " cured" by his doctor and was thought to be happier than he had ever been at the time of his death. And you are right to question the pistol. Apparently he owned no pistol, Β there were few in the village and the ballistics indicate the pistol he was shot with was unusual and was the exact kind known to be in possession of the bully that accidentally or purposefully shot him.( Links to resources in post.)

Ah, lovely picture! Β Β My name is Justin, but "Vincent" was the other suggestion my mother came up with when I was born. She's a big fan of Vincent van Gogh! I love his paintings too, and I just adore the movie "Vincent & Theo" from 1990. If you ever come across it, I suggest you watch it! And my own personal mission will of course be to watch "Lust for Life"Β Β
