Description "Kids should be able to date"

Why not? If a teenager were to be in a relationship, people would call it cute. If it's a kid, they get butthurt. People in this world are so ageist, believing kids are below adults because they don't have a job or "do drugs". Kids and teens aren't aliens. They're humans.

They're too young!
How? Is there a law saying you have to be a certain age to kiss someone on the cheek?

They won't last long!
Ok, so what? If if won't last long, fine. It will give them experience in the future for new relationships, hopefully lasting long.

They don't know what they're doing!
Uh huh. Hey, what is the divorce rate again? 50%? Yeah, so you adults sure know what you're doing compared to kids.

They don't know what love is!
Fun fact: Kids and teens feel more emotions than adults, because adults are more experienced, unlike kids and teens. And bonus, what age do you feel true love? Answer me, do you feel true love at a certain age? No. So yeah, kids know what love is.

You make some interesting points, but I will politely disagree as I'm still not open to the idea of 9 year olds dating.Β

I feel like there's no harm in dating as long as you set boundaries and rules. Instead of claiming "you're too young for this!" kids respond better to compromise and discussion. Β I had a "boyfriend" in kindergarten, and I turned out quite all right.Β

Uh, no, well obviously they-

Wait... you have a point...

See, don't you wish this was 1800, where you could get married at 14 and no one would care about how old you were at the time?

Yeah... those were the days people weren't ageist and believing because they're adults, they're above anyone younger than them, which is bullshit. I feel ever since those teen romance movies and MTV people looked at teens like aliens.

All depends on the age. I'm in middle school and hanging out highfiving in the hall way and talking with each others friends ISN'T dating. Most kids aren't doing it right. Some are but most aren't. Its now a popularity thing.Β

so two year olds can date if their mature? It is still maturity but age does play some part.

Well I doubt they'd know what dating is at two years, but I guess you have a point.

With all due respect, no they should not. My main problem with it is because encouraging it causes kids to grow up too fast. I know not all kids develop at the same rate, but dating is off the table and should be until the kids in their early teens at the very least.

You're right about adults not knowing what their doing though, but kids are even more clueless.
