Description
It was a regular day, Shen was by the docs awaiting the arrival from the boats that are supposed to have new cargo of felines for the city. The soft breeze from the sea hit his dark fur as he kept his gaze lost in the horizon, waiting for that shadow to appear that meant the boat was coming. He sighed, as much as he enjoyed being out here and the company of the orange tigress, Shen felt as if he could do more.
An hour or so went by and finally the shadow on the horizon, the boats were coming, thank the gods. Shen had started to lose his patience, which would make this job all the more annoying. Without thinking twice, once the boat was secured in the docs and the cargo door open, he jumped in and began moving the felines out, it was clear he was not in the mood for any of this.
Lucky this cargo was not all that big, so it didn't take long, but before Shen would finally step out of the boat something caught his attention, something laying by the corner. His tail twitched behind him before he started walking in the direction of this lump of fur, it was clear that it was a small feline meant to have gone out with the rest of the cargo, but there was something strange about this. Once he was close enough, Shen used his massive paw to move the feline to take a look at it's face, the cat was so skinny and small it looked like the mere touch of Shen's paw would be enough to brake him. Shen stood there with a cold stare, it was a young lion, a cub.....was it even alive? Shen figured that if it was then from the touch of his paw then the lion would've reacted, but there was nothing. Shen brought his head closer, trying to hear if the kid was breathing, but he couldn't catch anything.
Shen stood over the young feline, a feeling of pain stabbing his heart, such a small feline, he didn't even get the chance to grow half a mane. His pointy ears folded back, and just as he was about to grab a hold of the body with his fangs there was a small twitch from the cub. Shen froze, not in fear or surprise, more as if he was hunting and his prey had caught a glimpse of him. He waited a few seconds before there was another movement, he was alive? ....impossible.... he looked back at his fellow bounty hunter who started to walk off with the group of felines, he quickly looked back at the light lion. He ponder upon his options, but he knew in his heart what he had to do.
Before a human could see him he took a hold of the cub with his maw and made his way out of the boat and towards the city. Once inside he walked over to hi owner's house and placed the cub down where Shen is supposed to sleep. The Elite hunter laid next to the lion, hoping to get another sing of life from him, but he got nothing. Maybe it was just his imagination? maybe it was best to have thrown him in the sea instead of bringing him here, but just as this thought came to his head the lion began to twitch and move. Shen kept his gaze on the younger feline, catching every move he was doing, he was obviously weak so Shen did not expect the lion to do much, he looked so thin, and even worse up close.
Max: "............w............where am I"
was the only thing the lion managed to whisper after a few minutes of silence where he had not noticed the presence of the Elite
Shen: "Masillia"
He simply replied, not necessarily coldly nor aggressively, it was with a calm tone.
Max: ".........w-who are you?..............why am I here?...........w.....w-what happened?"
It was clear that with each phrase the lion was having some difficulties breathing, or keeping his head up alone.
Shen: "calm down, you've clearly been through a lot, you need to rest. I will answer any question you have, but for now, you must recover your strength"
His tone was firm, it demanded respect, but it was not harsh.
Max:" I.......I"
Shen's ear flicked and he quickly interrupted
Shen: "it's alright, kid, calm down. You're not in danger anymore....-"
their eyes meet momentary
Shen: "you're safe here, I promise. Now rest"
Maximus stared at the way larger feline, obvious confusion and questioning could be seen from his expression, but in the end he couldn't fight it anymore and he gave in to his body's need.
Shen staid next to the cub through the night and in the morning, but little did he know that this would lead him to this harsh and life changing decision....
