Description
The afternoon was a quiet, peaceful one... Breeze from the wind sways the plants in a rhythmatic direction. Luminance from the sun pours down on the soothing greenery. And yet... Two unlikely Wynglings are together. But the atmosphere was different from one of them. One that is known for not having the best or most appealing of character...
She was silent. He was silent. Silence was speaking to only one of them...
"...I don't understand." The brown wyngling breaks the silence. Without even turning her head or having her eyes meet the one whom is on the other side of the large tree, she speaks to him.
"Why... are you doing this?" She asks the pink wyngling.
"What do you mean...?" He raises a brow, eyes in her direction.
Jane heaves a light sigh. Eyes refusing to greet back at the pink wyngling. "You know I've never been kind to you."
"I know." He replies.
"You know that I think very highly of myself and expect those like you to think the same."
"I know." He responds again.
"I'm always insulting you and that notorious butt-grabber, Kurt."
"To be fair... your insults are on the level of Rain's sense of direction. Horrible." He adds.
Jane paid no mind to that last remark. But she was merely baffled at Matthias when she came to him earlier, asking for a way to ease her mind. The thought of it has been eating at her for the past hour.
"Matthias, dear... Tell me why are you doing this."
Matthias still can't grip on to her vague question. "You need to be specific..."
Jane heaves another sigh. Back up against the tree. "I haven't been having the best mood as of late. I... really didn't know who else to turn to. Kid has been going through an emotional dilemma after his 'Mother' left him. I've been giving him some space because of that. And yet, I found myself coming to you if you knew a way to help ease my mood. You agreed to help me..."
"That's right..." Matthias tilts his head up, basking in the sun's warm radiance.
"But... But why, dear? I've never been kind to you! Let alone I know what you among others think of me. Why would you help someone whom has never shed an ounce of genuine kindness to you?" Jane's voice cracked at that last part.
There was nothing but silence for a moment before Matthias broke it.
"If there's anything that my big brother has taught me... is that there are those who are not given or shown enough kindess or generosity in their life. The ones whom do not receive enough warmth and affection from someone else, are the ones who become distant and detached. Cold and mean. The ones who do not receive enough attention despite their best efforts, are the ones who refuse to allow that attention come to them. They will despise the praise that they need to encourage them to succeed."
A leaf gently floats down on to Matt's head. He picks it off, but grasps on to it.
"He also said that there is light in anyone. There are those who stray further away from that light, succumbing to the dark instead. The ones who follow the dark have trouble being guided back into the light. The radiance from that light becomes so hard to reach out to the victim. Because when the victim has fallen into the darkest place, they are struggling immensely. They feel that nothing can guide them back to their senses. But..."
He releases the leaf in to the air, allowing the wind to carry it. The ray of light from the sun penetrates through the leaf.
"...When there is a crack small enough for the light to reach through, it becomes a sign that there is always a second chance waiting for you. A chance to understand. A chance for redemption. And a chance to forgive yourself and others..."
His eyes face her once more. "It never hurts to understand, Jane."
After awhile, silence was the only thing occupying the two wynglings.
Jane recaps over and over on what Matthias has told her.
The wind pushes her hair upward. Her eyes closed, enjoying the pleasant breeze swaying her cheek and neck fluff. Her pearls making a small chattering noise from the wind. Warm radiance from the sun shines down on her.
'It never hurts to understand...' her thoughts repeat.
