And I think gifs can do partial transparenc. But it depends on what you make them with. U know in photoshop you can change the "matte" option, in save for web or whatever it is, to none. I think white is default.

Ohh, that would make the edges look much prettier. But still, the shadow areas will have to become a solid color (originally I used the color black with 50% opacity) Anyway, thanks for the idea!
