I've been working on a personality theory loosely based on Jungian psycology. The main aspect of wich is the "path of the mind" or the "hero's journey" Every culture on earth has a Hero's Journey tale that folows a remarkably similar paradigm. The hero embarks on a quest, through many trials he or she acomplishes great things, then the hero succumbs to hubris and falls. From Hercules to the tall tales of Paul Bunyun and Pecos Bill, it is a testimony to the universal unconsious. My theory of personality follows a cyclic pattern of the ego taking one of many paths to the eventual understanding of the self and back again. From the ego follows a consequence of thought: either Worry, Agony, Fear or Panic. These consequences express common personality traits seperating one prone to panic, an agitated state caused by chance experiences, from someone prone to agony, a consequence of realizing unavailable desired experiences. From someone who often worries, caused by exceptions to one's normal experiences, to someone who is prone to fear, a drama of the subconsious. From these consequences the algorithm continues into personality conditions guided by traditional Jungian arctypes. Here, the personality develops when individuals move from their experiences and consequenses and settle into their obsessions, interests, distractions and reflections. Life, Order, Expression, Fate, Exception, and Death are vantages that reflect the individual's mental landscape. Guided by one of the four arctypes along the path, the personality reaches, conclusion and a single element in the quaternity of perceptive reality, (Witch i have labeled as "light", "form", "image" and "sound") becomes a direct pathway to the elusive Self. The ego is shed and one's true essense is boiled out for reflection. While on the path the personality is pushed out, revealed. One of sixteen distinct personality "types" is possible, although a little individuation is required to fully explore such personalities in real individuals. There is considerable flexibility in my theory of personality due to the addition of the arctypes. For example, a person prone to fear and displaying an obsession or respect for order may be guided by the Shadow and thus motivated through their disgust of others / self loathing / inhibitions or they may be guided by their Anima and motivated by a sense of empathy / unwavering morality / natural beauty. So while there may only be sixteen types of personalities within my Tesseract on the sociological face, psycologically the amount of personalities possible is infinite.
