Da-fuze was an employee at a state of the art recording studio. Many projects were being developed there. Da-fuze was particularly interested in a project being developed by four of his co-workers. It was some sort of virtual mermaid named Sayu. All four of them were required to bring her to life. Remi was the main animator and designer, Dodo handled motion capture, Sofa supplied the video editing and Tila gave Sayu her voice.

Da-fuse wanted to test out the program for himself but his boss and co-workers all said no because it was too dangerous! At first he stayed away from the project like they wanted, but as the days went by he became more and more curious. When his boss wanted someone to stay late and help close the studio for the night, he saw his opportunity and volunteered. His real motive was to try the mermaid program he had been kept away from for so long.

Besides Da-fuse, only a few other people remained in the studio and they were all elsewhere. For the next half hour or so, he had the area all to himself. Quietly he entered the room where the highly advanced project was kept. A 30 second demo of Sayu the mermaid swimming through the water and then speaking to the audience was being looped over and over again.

After turning off the demo, Da-fuze connected himself to the machinery and turned up the power as high as it could go. His entire body was obliterated in a matter of seconds, yet he did not die. His body had become that of Sayu the mermaid. When he, or she, tried to speak, she found that she could only make high pitched shrieks.

During her continued attempts to speak, she realized in horror that the machine was still on full power and was rewriting her brain. She could not call for help because she could not speak and no one would come otherwise because no one knew she was in there. Her entire memory was being erased. New memories came about her being Sayu the mermaid, a state of art musical project just about ready to be introduced to the public.

Sayu, formerly Da-fuze, practiced singing. Her voice was as excellent as always. Then she tried swimming around in a style that was both fast and graceful. It went beautifully.

After all that, Sayu once again attempted to speak. She spoke fluently. Her voice sounded just like Tila but she was no longer aware of this. She was just a computer demo, not even REAL. She never wanted to hear the R-word again.

The machinery was still on full power which caused everything around Sayu to change. When her boss and co-workers entered the building the next day, they no longer remembered that Da-fuse even existed. They only remembered Sayu the mermaid.

Remi noticed someone had left the machine on full power and turned it back down to a reasonable level. Before he could report it, he had forgotten all about it. Tila had a conversation with Sayu. She was surprised at how lifelike she sounded.

Dodo worked on Sayu's dances and other movements. He too was surprised by how realistic she had become. Finally Sofa tested out her combat skills which seemed to be working fine. None of them knew the reason for the sudden improvement and soon all of them only remembered it as slow and steady progress.

As for Sayu, formerly Da-fuze, she was ready to sing. Her songs would be the very foundation of the cutecore genre which was popular with younger audiences. As she sang, she moved back and forth through the water and displayed her dazzling colors. Soon Sayu became a huge hit and she was always ready to meet and greet all of her fans.
