Words Below:
Indigo was playing a dancing game in virtual reality. Over the decades the details kept changing but the basic idea remained the same. A song would start playing. At the same time movement instructions would appear. The player had to make the right moves at the right moments which would be in beat to the song,
The game offered different types of music, different eras of music, and different skill levels. Indigo liked interacting with other players both through competition and through teamwork. Another event was about to take place where the players would compete against one another. He quickly queued up for the event and spent time practicing his moves.
For the event there were two set characters, one male and one female. More males were queued for the event than females so they started giving males the option to use the female character. Many of them refused but not Indigo. He just wanted to play. Once he agreed his virtual environment changed and he found himself inhabiting the virtual body of a female dancer.
Indigo looked over at his opponent. He knew the body he was seeing was not real. His opponent would only see the female body and have no idea who "she" was. The music would come from the current top 40 hits found on most musical devices. That was not his favorite type of music, but it was not his least favorite either.
Some of the male players refused because they knew the dance instructions would require feminine movements especially if they got certain songs. Indigo did not mind. He liked a challenge. One of those more feminine songs started to play. Indigo was glad he had been practicing and showed "her" moves to the best of his ability.
The other player had some skill but nowhere near as much as Indigo did. As the pace quickened Indigo left him far behind. He admitted to himself that he actually liked the more feminine dance moves. It gave him the chance to show the best moves of "her" virtual body.
After several songs, Indigo was declared the winner. He went on to face his next opponent. This player was more skilled than the first but once again he managed to win. He faced three more opponents of increasing difficulty and won all three of them. As the event went on, he realized it was being done tournament style and he could keep going as long as he kept winning.
The next opponent has a skill greater than his own. Indigo felt the only way he could win was to fully embrace everything his character had to offer. He tried to see things from "her" point of view and use "her" moves in a way the male bodies could not handle.
An ever growing number of defeated participants watched "her" perform. Indigo was glad to have an audience and tried not to let them down. Indigo was losing but a more feminine song was playing. Taking advantage of the situation, "she" showed off "her" moves and gained a slight lead.
With the next song "her" opponent regained the lead once again. Indigo did "her" best and even narrowed the gap towards the end. Indigo was eliminated and "her" opponent went on to the next round. As "she" watched the next round quite a few people wanted to take to "her". Indigo thought it would be best to keep "her" distance.
Looking ahead, Indigo noticed the next event would be a team competition. With a sigh "she" wondered what "she" was going to do.
