Description

‘Hello! Can anyone here me? Hello? Hello!’

The putrid stench announced the predator’s approach long before she saw it. She heard it next, the clicking sound of razor sharp claws against the rusting metal deck.

‘Hello!’ She screamed into the radio, shaking it vigorously in her good hand. ‘Anyone!’

Closing her eye she could feel it. It was close now.

So very close.

The reptilian sill came from above her filling her with a looming sense of dread.

Drawing in a breath she screamed.

‘And you’ve been having this nightmare for how long?’ The phycologist asked her eyes flickering up over her notebook.

‘Two, almost three months now.’ Scar let out a long breath trying to slow her breathing.

‘I see, and you describe it as a looming sort of dread. Have you considered that this, monster, that is hunting you is a metaphor for something you are trying to face and overcome?’

‘Maybe.’ Was all she could manage.

‘So.’ The phycologist asked. ‘What is it you are so afraid of?’

Nightmares, not very fun things. Something from her past no doubt, though she has been scheduled to see a physiologist later regarding these reoccurring dreams.

Waking in a cold sweat, Jay's trembling hand closes over Tachi's with all her tiny arms strength.

Those too, those things inspire a particular sense if dread. Jurassic park was one of those films that caused me nightmares as a child. The raptors in particular.

No, I suspect it is something deeper. A sort of primal fear.

Ahhh Shaoia has the same problem and with night terrors too.

Not the most pleasant, one just has to remember that they are just dreams and to push through them. The longer you can stay awake, the more distance you can put between you and the dream world.

What am I afraid of she asks?

Look at me!

It’s still out there.......and it’s coming........for us all.

Dear.......the doc replies.........it was destroyed according to the company........and you know the company is always right.

The company doc nods as an burly assistant leads her back to her room. Once inside the door closes with the familiar lock click.

She sits on the cold floor with her back against the corner...........It’s here......she says softly.......it’s here.

I saw those films at Waaaay to young an age. And my family, my father mostly was of no help fueling my imagination with tales of terror.

This actually did manifest into something of a crude game I hope to create one day. It in short is dinosaurs in the office. All you have is what you have on you, and the knowledge of the building. No weapons. Very fun. In a horrific sort of way.

There is just some primal horror invoked by dinosaurs.

Awe, and terror.

A company creation.......hoped for a living bio weapon.
The bun warned them of the danger.
She barely survived the attack.

Instead it got loose.

However the company must keep it quiet.
But she knows.........different.

So this would be a survival game based on outwitting the creatures roaming about the complex.
Interesting.........
Dinos.......they don’t feel remorse, they don’t care if you’re scared, they simply hunt you down.......prey that you are then feed at their leisure.

The horrors, and if the stories from modern media has taught us anything it is: beware company made bio weapons, because even if you survive, the company will do everything it can to ensure you will not be telling anyone...

So may ways, discredit, disappear, dispose of...

What made this game particularly fun/changing was the location. I used to work in an artic research institute, huge building, sort if house shoe shaped with about ten levels.

Offices were up top, an open sort of labs on the main floor. Deep storage and private labs were on the bottom levels with expedited equipment.

I being an admin assistant had access to most of it via key card or punch code. As the building was being remodeled very, very, slowly.

So apart from the assortment of dinosaurs, ranging from the dreaded raptors, to the spitting dilophosaurus, and even compies, in their tiny packs.

On top of this you have your other human survivors, and they can be just as bad as the dinosaurs.

The lab is planning to vent the building with a chemical gas to kill everything in the building while they take shelter in one of two fume hood rooms.

So to survive you have to choose, do you stop them, or take shelter with them?...

Also there is the element of using the extreme cold from the coolant tanks, or fire extinguishers in the building.

Or climbing and using the shelves as a means of stealth or escape.

So many options, so little time to think about them. As one runs for their life screaming.

Very nice.

You know it amazes me how they put office space up high and possibly dangerous stuff under it.
The dangerous stuff gets loose and your only way out is to develop the ability to survive a long fall from a great height or escape and evade all the dangers.🤔
I would want my office ground floor next to the exit.😏

Have fun developing the game.

Lol clearly this is a major design flaw, one that I should start asking about during any future interview process. 'Yes, now tell me about your building escape plans.' I am sure this would throw them for a loop.

True!
If I had to work in such a place...........
Work out an ADD plan. Avoid Deny Defend.
Avoid-If one can flee the flee. Quickest escape routes.
Deny-Places inside one can turn into bunkers, secure.
Defend-What items can be found and used as weapons if they try to breech Defend.

“I believe,” she finally gasped, “that I’m afraid that the overdue fine on the missing library book will literally kill me.”

“Oh? What makes you say that?”

She glared at him with her one good eye. “You obviously have not been on the receiving end of the librarian’s ire. Legend has it he smashed a miscreant into atoms for dog-earring one of his precious books.”
She shook her head in disbelief as she muttered under her breath, “That shark will be the death of me yet.”

In my defence, books are precious and so few people treat them with respect in this day of age.

Well... if you want to to ruin the surprise, this is a deep terror, one that drives most to do unspeakable things.

This one is, like the best terrors, two fold.

One, to sacrifice time in order to work like a mad bunny and be able to retire, at the fear of losing those close to you do to being distant.

Or to eat cat food at age 65...

I know. Its stupid. But it is a general irrationality fear. >.<
