Ah, little confusion here, the gazelle is Jerrel, Ombwa, is a lion prince. And he hates Jerrel for all the tricks she plays on him. She foils his snares, put a bee hive in his bed, and so much more.
She does this because Ombwa is proud, head strong, and she wants to bring him low fir his arrogance.
