Amenii wrapped the apren around her, it was oversized for her little frame and required a double knot to secure the strap, but it worked. The words ‘Kiss me, I’m naked’ now distorted covered the front, causing Amenii to shake her head. Nera’s idea of a Christmas gift, one that she had presented to her in front of Amenii’s family. That had been a disaster.
Shaking the thought off, Amenii focused on the task at hand. The cabin was still warm from the fire they had built and with Nera out getting some fresh supplies from town she had the run of the cabin. It felt good to be able to move around so freely, relaxing, and hungry…

Breakfast first, and then, there would be work to do. The cabin Nera had rented out was for the most part intact, a bit of a mess, but a mess all the same. Determined to have everything in a quasi-sort of order before Nera returned Amenii set about prioritizing her tasks. Food, stretch, maybe a little yoga, and then to cleaning, lots and lots of cleaning. It was going to take a lot of scrubbing, sweeping, and dusting to get this place back into a sort of reasonable order.

Nera had chosen this place not only for its price, but because it was, as the owner put it, haunted.

So far, Amenii had not seen any ghosts, or ghoulish undead lurking around, but by the time they had arrived there was not much to do but get a fire going and get some sleep. In the daylight though, the only thing threatening about this place was the lack of cleanliness. The last occupant had apparently left in such a great hurry that they could not have been bothered to clean in their haste to leave.

Still, there was something about this place, something that caused her to look behind her shoulder as she mounted the stool to begin cooking.

Something.
