Nick Eyed the tankard warily, his gaze shifting from the grog and back to Amenii’s smiling face.

‘This is Grog.’ He stated matter of fact looking her in the eyes.

‘Yes.’ Amenii drew out the word, a hint of a smile curling her lip.

‘And just, grog.’ Nick added, not blinking.

‘Yes’ This time the smile almost split her face.

‘Are you lying to me Oakwoods, for if you are…’

‘Nick, Nick, why would I lie to you?’ The words were honey on her tongue.

‘Because the last time you bought me a drink, I awoke chained to the main mast of some blood thirsty lunatic who tuned out to be none other than Tom Cat himself!’

‘Nick, Niiiiick…’ Amenii made a soothing gesture, reaching up to cup his cheek. ‘That was all in good fun.’

‘Yeah,’ It was Nicks turn to grin. ‘And so is this!’

Snapping a dagger out of his sleeve he twisted the blade in one hand and spun Amenii’s back onto the table with the other. With a single thrust, he lodged the dagger between her collar and neck, grasped the flagon she had brought him moments before and held it over her grinning.

‘Payback little witch.’ He growled over Amenii’s protests, and emptied the contents of the mug in a slow arcing spray over her face. Froth and grog splashed everywhere, running over the table and seeping down to the floor.

Sputtering Amenii struggled to free herself, but a sharp blow from the now empty mug sent her sprawling back again. Through crossed eyes, she could see Nicks looming from pick up the second tankard.

‘And this,’ He spoke with deliberate slowness, grasping her jaw and holding her mouth open. ‘Is courtesy of Tom Cat, who sends you his regards.’

Rather than upending the tankard onto her face, the stream was steady and aimed at her mouth.

‘Aaack! A-Alllp! A- All-‘ Her words were cut of as she began to choke. Unrelentingly Nick slowly emptied the container to a drop before he released his grip, and freed his dagger.

Sputtering, Amenii rolled of the table landing on the floor with a sickening splat. Her clothes soaked through revealing a tease she reserved for those she took to her chamber. Coking on the floor Nick panted a foot on her back.

‘Here let me help.’ He cooed before driving his foot down.

Amenii retched uncontrollably as her body was crushed to the floor, soaking her fur in grog and her half-digested breakfast from not hours before. Even as she lay there, Nicks mouth materialized at her ear.

‘The answer is ‘No.’ little bunny.’

Too sick to fire a retort back at him, Amenii resorted to glaring death his direction.

At this Nick laughed and delivered a sharp kick to her ribs.

‘You have Her spirit, but Not Her command.’

There was no need to speak her name, everyone in the Black Briar knew who Nick was referring too.

‘To bad for you.’ Turning he marched to the door without a look back.

Coughing Amenii picked herself off the floor. ‘That had not gone as planned.’ Shaking her filth covered arms, she squelched out of the bar in search of some fresh water, and a change of clothes.

If Nick and his Captain Hopps would not help, then she would turn to another, and another, and another if need be. There was always a mammal who possessed the perfect cocktail of greed and desperation to take on an insane quest for riches.

And she was going to find them.
