‘Well, what do you think?’ Nera turned, striking a pose as she cocked her hip to the right. ‘Black and white – they go well together.’
Sticking her head out from their shared kitchen, Amenii regarded the hyena. ‘You look like a modern day genie that just escaped from the her lamp.’

‘Oh, ha ha ha.’ Nera replied dryly. ‘Just because you are still wearing that same old t-shirt and yoga pants-‘

‘I like those pants! Their comfortable.’

‘And yet you kick and scream every time I try and take you out to get something new.’

‘Like I said, I’ve been busy.’

‘Look,’ Nera added a smile creeping over her face. ‘If this is about the baby weight you have been putting on.’

The spoon Amenii had been using came flying across the room and ricocheted off the door frame before coming to rest on the floor. Bending over she picked it up and waved it mockingly at the enraged bunny in the kitchen.

‘Or is it that you just don’t want to show off now that were hitched.’ Nera added, walking back and putting her arms around her pouting lover. Lifting Amenii off the stool she was standing on Nera dipped her head to plant a kiss on Amenii’s brow. ‘You are so oversensitive – besides it hardly shows.’

‘Your all heart.’ Amenii grumbled, still doing her best to keep her grumpy mood rolling. ‘And you try keeping fit after three pregnancies – all outside my own species. Each. Time.’

Letting her hand slide down over Amenii’s belly Nera plucked at the bunnies T-shirt and lifted it up to expose her front. The faint outline of the scar over down and over her side was barely visible.

‘Oh, you have been doing fine.’ Worming her fingers around Amenii’s tiny hand she gave her lovers paw a little squeeze. ‘Who else could boast about –‘

‘How about you choose a subject that doesn’t involve me swelling up like a balloon. Or having to deal with xeno bunnies, or, or, w- w-‘

‘Hey, hey hey.’ Nera tightened her grip around Amenii, squeezing her tighter than she normally would. ‘Hey. Hey. Hey…’

Without asking permission Nera carried Amenii to the door.

‘We-were are you-‘

‘I think you need a walk, somewhere outside with lots of open space.’ Nera opened the door and was already out before Amenii could protest. ‘Besides the sunlight will do you good.’

‘But – haven’t had breakfast yet!’

‘I’ll pick something up for you at a coffee shop.’
