The Last of Us is an amazing, amazing game.
I love this image so much. You can just see the difference in age on Joel from when he is holding Sarah to when he is holding Ellie. The game does an amazing job of portraying his loss and, also, healing that broken part of his soul.

This is why the ending to that game worked. Joel lied to Ellie because of what happened to Sarah and living all these years sulking over it. He obviously grew attached to Ellie and, even at the price of not finding the possible cure for the infected, he still had the selfish desire to keep what he loves dearly. I can't imagine how heart-broken he'd be if he was too late to save Ellieand lost her too...

Absolutely. Also, if I was in Joel's situation, I would have done the same thing.
Besides, even if they did get the cure, curing ALL of the infected wouldn't do that much. Plus, Ellie is just one person. Couldn't cure EVERYONE.

Yep! And at the end of the game you realize that Joel's in fact: the villain of the game! (Which blew my mind, when I took everything that he had done, into consideration)

My favorite part about this game was how the opening and ending scenes really came full-circle, as illustrated in this image. It told me that despite 20 hellish years, despiteΒ theΒ awfulΒ things Joel had toΒ do to survive,Β he always remained a loving father.
