When all the spirits have been introduced North steps forward wearing a big jolly smile he normally does.
"It is an honor to welcome you all and this.. is the best part of it.", North claps his hand twice and two yetis step beside North to blow horns and the other yetis are marching with ceremonial torches set on fire while the elves play something that kinda resembles music remotely if you listen very carefully (but they enjoy it so it's okay). Kinda like when Jack was welcomed as a guardian except that this time they actually get to finish it. The new spirits follow the show in amazement. The other guardians just smile and Bunny shakes his head at the elves dance recital. Except Jack. Jack's world has gone mute. He doesn't hear or register anything that is happening around him. All he can do is stare at Rapunzel. Her eyes. Her hair. Her smile. Oh how he has missed that smile. Jack's eyes follow every movement, every gesture she makes. But he doesn't say anything. He doesn't dare. What if this is just another dream? What if she disappears the moment he says something or reaches out to her. From fear he stays still and silent just drowning in the pleasure of seeing her.
After North had finished the ceremonial speech and the new spirits had all promised to do their best at their task, he realizes that the guardians themselves have not done a proper introduction. North clears his throat and pats his belly.
"So you all must've caught up already that we are the Guardians.", North gestures at everyone else exaggeratedly but proudly. "I am Nicholas St. North, might know me better as Santa Claus though", the Guardian of Wonder declares with a jolly grin.
"The Sandman...Oy...Sandy..", North turns toward the Guardian of Dreams who himself has drifted off to his own dreamland who knows how many minutes ago.
"Sandy.." North tries a quick high-pitched whistle but all he gets with that is a very angry glare from Bunnymund. "Wake up.", North pats him on his shoulder couple times before Sandy opens his eyes and waves his hand to the newcomers with a sleepy yet gentle smile.
"Right..then there's Tooth--", North begins but notices that the Guardian of Memories is not in sight at her place next to Sandy. "--fairy.", he gets to finish with a hefty sigh when he sees that she's groping Calan's - the now stupified and distressed autumn spirit's - teeth. "Tooth, hands off teeth.", North reprimands her, again.
On that red second Tooth takes her hands out off the autumn spirits mouth and smiles apologetically. "Sorry. Hi.", she wafts back to her place while June tries her best to keep her laughter inside.
"And then the..Easter Bunny.", North continues.
"Hey! What was that pause there?!", the Guardian of Hope scowls.
"Pause. What pause? There was no pause.", North covers feigning ignorant and introduces Jack before Bunny gets to comment anything back. Until hearing his own name, Jack "awakes" from his trance - and road to creeplandia - to notice everyone eyes on him.
"What?", is the only thing he gets out of his mouth not sure what was happening.
That was it. June couldn't hold it in any longer and bursts out laughing holding her stomach. "You guys..are..hilarious.", she's able to pronounce somehow whilst laughing and her sudden outburst catches to the others faster than a wildfire in dry grass. "What did I do?", Jack questions more baffled than before but whatever it was he's glad Rapunzel is having fun. Jack's about to call out to her when Mother Earth cuts in front of him.
"Well it has been a wonderful meeting you all but I think we must be on our way. There's lot to do and go through."
"You're not stay--", Tooth begins but North interrupts her by placing a hand over her mouth.
"Of course. We won't keep you from your duties any longer. Good day and Good years to come."
"And the same to you all.", Mother Earth smiles nobly and gestures her three season spirits to go and they start to make their leave after waving quick goodbyes to the Guardians.
Leave. Now? Not now. He couldn't let her go just like that. Not when they had just met again. There was so much he wanted to say. So much he wanted to do. To ask.
But no matter how hard he wanted and tried, Jack couldn't move. His feet were like paralyzed. Jack opened his mouth to say something. Anything. But nothing. All he could do was look at her figure getting more and more distant. He finally got to see Rapunzel again and he's just gonna let her leave like this? Jack closes his eyes trying to shake himself into moving and suddenly he feels a strong smack on his back.
"Why are you frozen (pun intented) like a statue, Frostbite?", Bunnymund asks amused look on his furry face and is ready to answer any retort Jack might say to him but instead of even glancing at Bunny Jack jots toward Rapunzel - Bunny's smack giving him the push he needed.
"Rapunzel wait!", escapes a plea from Jack's lips as he stops Rapunzel by grabbing her wirst. Hearing Jack's words the other Guardians turn their heads toward them not believing what they just heard. Rapunzel spins around looking more surprised than Jack was when he saw her enter the room today.
"Wha--What are you doing?", Rapunzel shrieks and looks from Jack to her wrist and back to Jack again. "Would--Would you let go of my hand? You're hurting me.", Rapunzel tries to pull her hand away.
Jack loosens his grip but doesn't fully let go. "Wait. Don't you remember me? Rapunzel it's me, Jack.", Jack starts with a smile.
"Yes I know you're Jack Frost, North just introduced you, nice to meet you." Rapunzel answers looking quite puzzled as to why mister Frost is acting this way and tries to pull her hand away from his for the second time.
"But my name is Holi and I really got to go so could you let go of me."
"But Rapunzel..", Jack instinctively pulls Rapunzel closer.
"Holi and would you just--", Rapunzel yanks her hand again and this time gets her hand out of Jack's hold and turns to leave.
"Wait, Rapun--", Jack begins and puts his hand over her shoulder. And just like the first time they met Jack catches a glimpse of something dark and round before everything goes black with a pang of pain.
