Description
You were trying not to bash your head into the nearest solid object. Finally, you just threw your pen across the room, watching it smack into a wall. It broke open, getting ink all over the floor.
"Oh come on!"
You groaned.
Suddenly, the ink began to boil...
Ink Sans appeared and walked over to you.
"You alright there, buddy?"
"I just can't! I have literally no talent! Why do these people want things from me?! What are they, blind?!"
"..."
He wordlessly grabbed you and pulled you away from your desk. He pulled a chair up to a window and sat in it, pulling you into his lap.
"Let's play a game."
"A game? Why? I have things to draw, you know..."
"Exactly. Look outside."
"... It's an alleyway. What are we doing, Sans?"
"What colors do you see?"
"Gray. Now please answer the question."
Sans continued to ignore your question.
"Look at the sky. The sky isn't gray, is it?"
"I guess not..."
"Now watch."
Sans snapped his fingers and a multicolored light appeared in the alleyway. After a while, the alleyway was alive with color.
"Woah..."
"It's like artwork, isn't it?"
"Yeah..."
"Hmhmhmhm~ Artwork will always remain gray and boring unless you add your own colors. Without personality, art is just marks on a paper. It's okay to take a break when you feel stressed, you know. But don't ever say you can't! Don't ever give up! Tell me, what would have happened if I had just said 'it looks gray and boring' and gave up?"
"... It would have stayed that way."
Sans smiled at you and gave you a gentle hug.
"People will always have different tastes. People will hate your work, and people will love it. Art is opinion. If everyone had the same opinion about art, there would be no variety. I, for one, think you're very talented! Keep practicing, no matter how good you get. In art, there is always room for improvement."
Sans waved his hand and the broken pen floated over to him.
"Art..."
He pieced the pen together again, ink and all.
"...can mend any rift."
He kissed the top of your head and vanished.
"Thank you, Ink..."
You walked back to your desk and giggled at what was on it.
