You sighed and looked over at Rick.
He was glaring at the blank tv screen.
He shook his head and groaned.
"Are you f#%^ing kidding me? This is such a load of- AH!"
All you did was poke his side to get his attention, yet he squirmed away from you.
"D-Don't do that..."
He sounded oddly quiet when he said that.
"Rick... Are you ticklish?"
He blushed at the word.
"Okay, first off, no I'm not. Secondly, don't say that word around me."
"Uh... Tickle?"
"Stop it!"
A mischievous smirk made its way to your face.
You immediately sat on him, facing him, and began to tickle him senseless.
"Tickle tickle tickle~!"
"GRAHahahahahahaha stahahahahahahahahahap!"
His blush grew darker, and his giggles slipped out into the room, making you smile.
His feet were banging against the footrest.
"Awww, your just a cute, ticklish little thing, aren't you~?"
"Fahahahahahahaha! Nohohohohoho, I'm not cuhuhuhuhuhuhute!"
You decided to have some fun with this.
"Yes you are. And to prove it, I think I'm gonna tickle you riiiiiiiiight..."
You reached behind you and began to fiercely attack his feet.
"...here."
"AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! NOOOOHOHOHOHOHO NOT THEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHERE!"
He began to hiccup and snort in desperation, thrashing and squirming with tears practically running down his face.
"Oh wow, I didn't realize I would get this kind of reaction from you!"
After a while, you could tell he was running out of air.
You immediately stopped and checked on him.
"Oh my god, are you okay?"
He was panting heavily, but still smiling.
"I'm fine... Just fine..."
He began to giggle.
And it was the most endearing sound you had ever heard.
"What's so funny?"
"I can still feheeheeheel tingling in my feeheeheeheeheet."
"Oh, haha. I probably cut off your circulation when I sat on your legs... Here, let me help you."
You got on the floor and began to massage his feet, hoping to help him stop the sensations.
"You don't have to, y'know. It goes away on its own."
"I know, but it was my fault. Besides, your feet are actually really soft!"
"Oh my God will you just shut up?!"
"What? What did I say?"
"Just... Stop complimenting me."
"Huh? But it's all true-"
"Whatever."
You looked up at him, and felt a pang of sadness when you saw him looking away from you.
"Rick, seriously, what's going on?"
"I'm just not comfortable with someone as pretty and nice as you complimenting an old fart like me, I guess."
"Hahahahahah! Rick, you aren't THAT old. You had Beth when you were young, and she had Summer and Morty when she was still young too. Just because you're a grandfather, that doesn't make you old."
"Eh..."
"Seriously, you shouldn't doubt yourself. You're amazing! You're funny, smart, cute, and unbelievably lovable!"
Rick shook his head in dismissal, but there was the faintest of blushes evident on his face.
"Hey Rick? Do you want to... Uh... Nevermind."
"What? You've got my interest peaked now. You better say it or I'll summon an alien to nibble you in your sleep."
"Wah! Okay... Um... It's kinda cold in here..."
"Okay. You said 'do you want to', then you trailed off. What were you gonna say, for real?"
"I'm... Cold. So I was wondering if we could... Cuddle? Maybe?"
"Uh... Why don't you just get a blanket? Jerry has a f#%^ing fetish with them; they're everywhere."
"Well, I just wanted to... Get closer to you I guess..."
Rick rolled his eyes but opened his arms out to you.
"Well... C-C'mere..."
Smiling happily, you sat in his lap.
You felt him shift a bit behind you before you felt his lab coat get draped over your shoulders gently.
It was really warm, and you couldn't help but him appreciatively.
"Aren't you a little cold- ah?!"
He wrapped his arms around you, pulling you closer to him.
"Hmmmm...nope I'm just fine."
"Heeheehee~"
Eventually, both of you fell asleep, simply enjoying the shared warmth.
