Hmm I'm not really sure I haven't tried yet, I don't see why not though.

you may want to check this [link] . you may be able to draw over the blueprint lines to make a vector drawing , then import that into Maya as a spline to make into a 3D object . on certain abstract/difficult pieces that can be a very useful technique
