these are a couple of holes found in a bridge dating from the stone age, made out of big chumps of rock, the bridge itself was very stable and durable too since it survived many floods for thousands of years. the holes are believed to be either part of a ritual or just an old game like chess where people used marbles or something as pawns.Related content

As simple as it is, that looks like it would be an interesting game to play. I though of people throwing marbles into the holes, and seeing what marbles get furthest without landing in the water.
