... or maybe Studio Pierrot just forgot about her XDBTW: I like Karui as a character, so this isn't suppose to be a hate post. If you have another theory regarding her relationship with the other kunoichi write it in the comments... let's have fun!

I like Karui, and her daughter, maybe she's not like bff with the others girls, but it doesn't really matter, since she's not from konoha and didn't grew up with them, even Temari is used to the people of Konoha since she was there at their chunin exam where she fought against shikamaru.

Well I don't imagine there's any love lost between Sakura and Karui.
Most like SP didn't see hre character as being important, as hardly any fans care about her.
I don't buy the "housewife" thing as the Akimichi Clan is one of Konoha's "Noble Clans" so I doubt they're worried about money/finances (given Chouji's mission record reflects that he doesn't go on many missions, that kind of supports the theory that his Clan is rich enough to support them without income).
She's not even in the big cast picture in the ending credits with Chouji and Chouchou.
She was just used as a tool so Chouji could have a daughter. From the start that's kind of what we figured and it pisses us off (should have been the Raikage instead of Darui)

When the families are shown separately Karui is shown with Chouji & Chouchou.
Karui is not shown in the big "Konoha Ninjas" collage during the credits which is what I think you mean (but neither is Temari, who was shown with Shikamaru & Shikadai in the family shot instead) as Kiba, Shino & Tenten who are all not married are in the big "Konoha Ninjas" collage (whereas Himawari who is not yet a ninja was left out of that collage, but she showed up in the Naruto, Hinata, Boruto family shot).
That movie was mostly Kishimoto not SP. Kishimoto rarely showed Karui in the manga, so it's not suprising he mostly left her out of the Boruto movie. In fact, what I noticed is that Chouji, Karui & Chouchou got a lot of attention in Gaiden (which was written after the Boruto movie though we saw it first) and I think that was done because Kishimoto knew that they were only making cameos or barely that in the movie. Actually, a lot of things done in Gaiden made more sense to me after I watched the movie and realized how much Gaiden was setting up the movie (or "making up" for things that didn't happen in the movie).

Meh, don't really care about the new generation anyways, given all the ways Kishimoto didn't bother developing characters from the original story. Building relationships in side stories is just a lazy way to say there wasn't enough character growth in the main story.
Kishimoto didn't have the time to make a databook for years, leaving fans to only speculate on the personalities and attributes of certain characters, and even after the final databook we still don't know how all the personalities match up - except through a few pages. Karui berates Omoi for speculating about mayonnaise on fries because there were more important things to worry about, now she's married to a man who will literally spend hours debating the merits of potato chip flavors. Not only was it a random pairing from the start, and development didn't do much to show a healthy interaction between the two, but SP shows she doesn't interact with anyone else in town either.
- From personal experience, a wife/girlfriend who moves to a new town to be with their boyfriend/husband and doesn't make friends with his social circle can be a nightmare.
- Granted it is possible Karui just has her own circle of friends, but that's not something SP would ever devote time to, given her unpopularity.
- Which might be a reason she was matched with Chouji, seeing as how in character polls he is the least liked of all the Konoha rookies.
Their daughter might have gotten attention in the Gaiden, but her role was relegated to comedic relief and ultimately she had no arc. And in the movie she's shown as being as useless as her father is in combat (as he also lost miserably in Chuunin exams). Had she received training in her mother's Kenjutsu, she might have made mincemeat of Shinki's puppet (as Omoi was shown to be able to cut Chakra Threads with his sword).
Granted, not all pairs can be developed to the same extent, and Naruto was a manga about bonds, not relationships; and even Kishimoto said writing relationships was a weak point of his. But more than the final "pairings" it's the way the characters are misused that is saddening.
Shikamaru, Ino, and Chouji go after the Immortals. Only Shikamaru manages to be useful, as both Chouji and Ino would have died without Kakashi and Naruto's help.
Hinata gets her moments to shine, Kiba and Shino are sidelined and turned into recurring jokes rather than having arcs that display growth.
I guess it's that way in most stories. Fans see a lot of potential in characters and get their hopes up, but the author takes the story in other directions. It's when the directions don't match the character's personalities that we're left asking "why", and there were a lot of those moments in Naruto.
