An interuniversal traveller friend once decided to stand in for a picture. He was convinced that the artist in question was so into "Arrangements" and not people in particular that he could slip one past him and make him paint one of those gateway paintings - those that - if you look into them long enough - draw you into another reality.

Unfortunately, my friend could not make it to the appointment, and that painter had to use his mother as a model. Moreover, since the old lady could not stand up for the painting, it had to be a sitting one, and thus ultimately failed to open interdimensional portals.

My friend later made an origami of that painting as an apology and sent it to me over the AI portal - but of course, because time flows differently in his universe, the painter in question is already much dead and possibly very decomposed. Such a shame.
