Hey, nice screeny! I've been messing with several linux distros, for several years now, without satisfaction Maybe freebsd could be the solution... is there a port for e17? And thanks for the etk perl bindings. I might be able to code something now

Thanks!
I've found FreeBSD to be a very nice OS with great support for my hardware. The packaging system is great, and yes, there are e17 ports in there (=
Its cool to see that you're interested in the etk-perl bindings. Let me know if you need any help or if you have suggestions. You can find me here or in #etk on freenode.

Seeing you hacking on common lisp makes me very happy. There is just no excuse for someone who does their masters degree on AI and Neural Networks, like yourself, to not no Common Lisp. You're going to make a great CL hacker my friend.
Happy Hacking,

imho, yes.
I am running FreeBSD on my laptop, a Dell Inspiron 9300, 1.86Ghz Centrino, 1GB Ram, SATA Drive, DVDRW, Nvidia 6800 Go, Broadcom NIC, Intel 2200 Wifi. Acessories include wireless kb / mouse, usb webcam, sharp zaurus pda, external 21.3" TFT, and an ipod (ipod will not work if formatted in hpfs+). Everything just works so well. (=

I moved to using FreeBSD on my laptop (which doubles as my desktop when connected to the external display / kb / mouse) a couple of monthes after I bought it. FreeBSD has proven to be the better OS for this box in terms of hardware support. After I used it for a while I found myself really liking it and prefering it over Linux. The system is simple, fast, secure, and small. Software installation using ports is one of the best things known to man. Configuration is really inituitive. It has Linux binary emulation (so Linux binaries work there, games, GoogleEarth etc...). The system is just perfect. (=
