so recently Nekoshiba and griffsnuff did this fursona change thing like they do every april fools. Turns out they're keeping the designs and whatnot or something and good for them. The designs are cool and they're happy so, awesome.However.
Apparently people have been all butthurt about this, getting offended and unwatching them because of it. I kid you not, I saw someone literally say it bothered them and that they were no longer a watcher.

I don't know how much shit they're been getting in their pms or profile comments or Deviation comments but if it's enough to spur a journal to address it, as well as me actually seeing people get butthurt over something so small and ridiculous is just... Well it's ludicrous.
Looks like DeviantART either forgot to take it's naptime and got cranky or it forgot to take it's chill pills this morning.
I support Jenna and Griff in whatever the fuck they want to do. If it makes them happy, it's none of your business.
If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anthing at all.

it WAS fucking stupid. I dunno, basically, people got offended cause they though neko and griff were making fun of something which they weren't and then they were accused of doing more stuff and not taking it seriously and it blew up and became a shitstorm of stupid.

The only situation I could see someone being upset over them swapping characters is if someone made fan art for that character.
If I made fan art for someone's character and then they traded the character off, I would be a little upset because it would be like wasted effort or something along those lines
But even then, it's nothing to get butthurt and childish over, so I'm not trying to defend them or anything.. Just my view on it ~

in the end it's their characters and they don't have to consult anyone if they want to change. They don't draw for your convenience or my convenience or anyone else's convenience. They draw for themselves and if we get all upset about them doing something that makes them happy, it's petty and I want no part in it.

that's true, but "basic manners" does mean don't start harrassing people and telling them awful things about themselves just because you don't agree with something. If you're upset or if you have a different opinion, then that's great. You're a human being. However, that doesn't mean you should go flame them and become all pissy and tell them they suck and start harassing them. They did nothing to hurt you so why go after them in such a negative manner?
When making their new characters, I can say with 100% accuracy they weren't thinking "oh this is going to piss off the internet and I want to piss them off because fuck them all". They weren't trying to make you or anyone else upset and for all those who got upset, I just wish they had taken a more mature route to it than to harass them so much that they had to make a journal addressing it.
This happens so often and it makes me sad. It's one of the many reasons why I'm just going to move completely over to FA soon and forget all this nonsense.

It was an april fools thing, and I don't think they were making fun of anyone at all. They do something ever april fool's day like this. Last year, Jenna became half bee and no one had an issue. The year before that, Jenna and Griff swapped sonas and no one had any issue with that. They even made journals telling people they weren't making fun of otherkin or anything.
The whole time they were just trying to have a good time and make people laugh as well as each other laugh. They weren't being mean at all and purposefully mocking people with the intention of being mean. Stuff like this happens every day; your friends make fun of you and you laugh, people make fun of something they see happen in class or at the mall or whathaveyou and you laugh about it because it was funny, not mean.
The same thing is happening here. They were only having some fun and suddenly everyone gets mad because, well, I don't know actually.
