Description
Yami was growing more and more frustrated with is inability to escape. Two weeks he been trapped here, and not ONE opportunity had presented itself! He had been darted with strange long sticks and had been forced to sleep and when he awoke he would have new white stuff stuck to his body. (He had recently learned that the humans called them "bandages.") What bothered him the most however was the fact that he had left Yugi without so much as an inkling as to where he had gone. He needed to get back home to his pod!

Mahad walked towards the main tank, a silver fish in hand. Recently he had noticed that he hadn't interacted with Mana as much as usual, and it was beginning to show in her behavior. He needed to get themselves back on schedule. "Mana, c'mon I got fish for you!" He called as he waded into the shallow part of the main tank, splashing at the water to get her attention from wherever she may be.

Yami was at the bottom of his prison, cleaning his tail absent mindedly when he heard splashing from above. Was that in his tank? No...
Curious, he cautiously swam up and poked his head up over the edge of the pool and watched the brown haired human splash away in the main tank. (He had recently gathered that this male was named "Mahad.")
'What is he doing now...' he wondered, mildly annoyed. A gold fin briefly cut above the water in the main tank, catching Yami's attention. It vanished once again under the surface before suddenly, a flash of gold erupted from the water and launched at Mahad. Yami stiffened in shock. The other mer was finally attacking their captors!

Uhm...

Wait.

Was that... Purring?

What?

Yami stared in major surprise as the other mer... Greeted Mahad. Not even greeted, nuzzled him was more like it.

What in the world?

Now he could get a good look at this phantom mer he had heard. She was a Gold Midian female, probably about his age, maybe a year younger. She had chocolate brown hair and fan shaped fins as per usual for her breed, and even from here he could see that she had bright, shiny turquoise eyes. She seemed healthy, her scales were bright and glossy. She didn't look half bad either.... But why was she so close to this human?
His question was answered when he saw the object on her upper left hand arm. A bright green and grey tag.

She wasn't a captive. She was a pet.

Mahad chuckled. "Hello Mana. How are you?" The Midian pulled away and chirped her reply. "Good!"
He smiled. Mers were capable of human speech, though it took quite a while since their vocal cords were very different from theirs.
"Want some breakfast girl?"

"Yes!"

Mahad grinned and tossed her the fish, which she caught in her jaws easily. His spine prickled as he heard her jaws bare down on the fish and snap it's spine and bones. "Hungry huh?" Mana nodded eagerly, a grin on her face. "Hehe."

Suddenly, Mana's ear frills twitched as something else caught her attention. Fish still in her mouth, she turned and looked to the left.
Mahad looked over as well and smirked.

Their Ebony Royal had come up from his sulking and was currently staring at Mana. She stared right on back. Both were momentarily frozen.

Mana, blinked and tilted her head before doing the only thing she could think to do in such a situation. She smiled past her fish at him.

The other mer's spines twitched and he seemed to snap out of it before yelping and retreating quickly back into his tank. Mana giggled in amusement nodding her thanks to Mahad and slipping back into the tank proper to eat.

Mahad sighed. Not a bad reaction, in fact it was rather encouraging. No raised spines, no hisses... Maybe they could be put together... Darky's reaction certainly was amusing.

Mana swam down to the soft sandy bottom of the main tank, fish tightly placed in her jaws. She settled down and began to eat, all the while thinking. 'So, I've finally seen his eyes... Hehe...'

'What a pretty shade of purple..."

This was a tough pic when it came to fitting it. Eh, I'm pretty happy with their expressions.
I STILL need to get better at drawing Mahad, I'm not completely happy with how I draw him.

I like Yami's face... :3
