Description
I've been contemplating posting this in my scraps, but I have had much worse-looking content waltzing about in my main gallery and, who knows, someone might want to see what I've been up to. The top three were done a couple days ago and the whale painting was done last night. The first painting just looks gross and unappealing.
It's smudgy, blurry at points, and is something I hope I never see again...but I also think their might be some value in that.
The second is alright. Unrefined, but I'm okay with how it turned out. It isn't finished, but none of them are.
The third is probably my favorite. It contains a new character that I might be drawing a lot more. The anatomy is strange though.
The fourth....really demonstrates my incompetence in creating depth in a painting. I will be returning to this idea once I get more practice.
Aaaaand Pokemon fusions! Those were pretty fun to do.

That rat your wall neighbor by chance?
The snowdude has a lot of personality, even without a face `o`
Sheep-chan is a fluffy boi.
Those angler sharks are spooky! I think the lack of depth might be from the lack of value range—thoughts on that?
The poke-fusions are too good. I always keep balloons with wings attached to my birds. The Glaceon dood needs more floof.

Thanks +o + ! I like the snowy d00d

Aaaaand yeah, the value range is pretty low. I tried adding more but I feel like I screwed myself over by painting the light from the eyes too early
aaaaaaaaaaand I agree--- m00r fl00f shall be added

Ahhh yeaaaah!
And I think that deepening the darker areas, making it greyer and darker as you went further back (almost like a hallway?) might help.
Do you end up working on just a couple layers? `o`

I was trying a different approach in which you do everything on one layer..... and uhhh,,, not sure if I'm feeling it lol.
I'll definitely keep that in mind when I redraw it!

A friend of mine would do that pretty often. Seemed to help him with painting from back to front, but he did say he didn't like retro painting since he had to repaint everything if he messed something up. Sounds like what you were running into too. ;o;
