Description
This pattern has a gauge of 5 stitches to an inch, and is recommended that you measure yoru head before you start, and then modify the pattern (go on the shorter side, rather than the longer, as knitting will stretch, but will not shrink)
I reccommend using an acrylic, as it holds up better

Written Pattern:
Rows 1-20: knit 74 stitches, following the chart (Don't forget to swith over to red for the star! Fair isle is recommended for this)
Row 21: Cast of 26 stitches, knitting as you go, knit 21, then cast off 27 (this will leave you at the end of the row) Tie off the yarn, and use a needle to sew it in
Row 22:restart at the beginnging of your row, knitting
Row 23: Knit two together, knit 19, knit 2 together on the back side of the stitch
Row 24: Knit (Make sure you're keeping to the chart!)
Row 25: knit two together, knit 17, knit 2 together on the back side of the stitch
Row 26 (and all other even rows):knit
Row 27: Knit two together, Knit 15, Knit two together on the back side of the stitch
Row 31: Knit two together, knit 13, knit two together on the backside of the stitch
Row 33: Knit two together, knit 11, knit two together on the backside of the stitch
Row 35: Knit two together, knit 9, knit two together on the backside of the stitch
Row 37: Knit two together, knit 7, knit two together on the backside of the stitch
Row 39: Knit two together, knit 5, knit two together on the backside of the stitch
Row 41: Knit two together, knit 3, knit two together on the backside of the stitch
Row 42: Cast off
