Description Finally after two years of trying to get my tiny brain around all this, another Sigma user (thanks Gary Radford) has shown me how to get the White Balance right on my full spectrum Sigma DP2, oh so simple with a grey card! This is straight-out-of-the-camera, just RAW to JPG only.

Where can I get a full spectrum modification done? Not here in Brazil, I think.
Beautiful picture!

Hi Robson
It is easy
Either get a SD Sigma DSLR & the hot mirror is called a dust protector & is removable for IR & clicks back in for Visible.
See my Journal -Β  colinbm1.deviantart.com/journa…
The DP Sigma Compacts, fixed lens, have the same sensor APS-C size. A competent camera technician will be able to remove the hot mirror & nothing needs to take its place.
Cheers

I don't think I can find this camera here. I just saw one on ebay for US$658.00. I'd have to pay 50% more on taxes. Maybe when a relative or friend travels to the US I can ask him to get one for me! It's hard to live in a country which is still in the 19th century.

Thanks

Hi David
I have been wracking my (tiny) brain today for a way to increase the yellow in the foliage & in particular in the palm fronds.
I can make subtle changes in the red & blue, but haven't stumbled on a way to bring out the palms ?
I like the rich reds, blues & yellow, but the palms..............
Cheers

Well, Col, I think solving this problem will depend on how good your photo-editing skills are. There are several ways. Here are two, in outline. Use a Curves tool (standard in most photo editing software) on the Green channel to lighten the greens. That will alter other areas as well, so you will have to work with two layers and blend them. A second way would be to use a Channel Mixing tool, and alter the balance of RGB until you bring up the colour in the palms. Again, that will alter other areas, and so you need to work with two layers and blend the altered layer into the original. If I were doing it, I would simply erase with a large soft brush the altered layer leaving only the areas where I had the palm leaves with the new colour.

Personally, I like the image the way it is, but I understand the need to see what happens if alterations are made.

Cheers

Thanks David
Yes I love the effects as they are too......a dream come true.
But I just love the white palms in IR sooooooo much......& if that could be in this ..... well, wow.
Just dreaming David.......maybe in two years I get there
I can sort-of understand what you are saying.....I'll give it a go....
Cheers

I think messing around is the way forward - it will be difficult to isolate only those bits you want to change.

Thanks David
Been doing some messing around today.
This is one of those rear 'farrrrk' moments, that are enjoyable & happen only a few time in a lifetime
I'll write a Journal & see what comments (if any) it generates ?
I am finally getting some pay-dirt from the wonderful camera, I mean SOOC not PP )
Cheers
