Heaven forbid a re-make, though I suspect it's inevitable but if I recast the three leads, I'd say: Jon Hamm as Scheider, Jesse Eisenberg as Dreyfuss, and Terry O'Quinn or Harrison Ford as Shaw.

Ford, yea I can see that.. I'm thinking Hemingway and Anthony Hopkins would give the role the "old man and the Sea" element.
I saw a traler for the film Thor and Hopkins looks great, it reminded me of Lorance Olivia in Clash of the Titans.
I love Shaw's films. ever seen "The Deep" he plays a guy called Roma Trees, evan has the same type of boat from Jaws.
