Well, once more into the dark millennium...Here is a model I've been meaning to finish for the longest time. A second Chapter Master I purchased as a set for the release of the Apocalypse expansion.
There is a whole ton of new stuff going on here. He's been done up entirely with the new Citadel paint range, photographed with a new camera (my "new camera" broke down and had to be replaced from Canon with a refurbished model), and all the pictures were taken inside a new light tent hand built by yours truly.
Needless to say there are a ton of new variables I had to work with, so please let me know how the overall picture looks along with the model itself. I can always try again or just put up some individual angles.

Cool but the crux terminatus is only used on terminator Armor.

Not true. The Crux Terminatus is an honor badge given to Space Marines of veteran status, who have earned the right to WEAR Terminator Armour. It's a mark given, often by the Chapter Master, to show they are some of the Chapter's finest and most respected members.

Me either. A nine foot tank of a man with half his face missing, carrying around an energized axe and shield almost as big as he is. At the very least, the fight would be brief. XD

This is really cool. If you don't mind my suggestion, you may benefit from thinning the paint a touch, although that could just be cause the photos are up close. Great work though

Originally I picked the colors and scheme out on my own. But I did find out not long afterwards they share the same colors as the Nova Marines.
But I thought that, since they looked unique enough, I'd just go with it.

Lovely paint job! I tried to paint a bunch of ork boyz a while ago, but I used acrylic craft paint and I didn't have a small enough paint brush. At the end, they looked like I slammed a pint or two while I tried to paint them, it was pretty funny : P

But seriously, thank you again. In answer to your question, the gold skull on the backpack, in the lore of the game, has become an important and powerful symbol to humanity. in the 41st millennium, death is everywhere. It's only natural for it to have become an honor marking. More then that, a skull symbolizes the immortal Emperor of Mankind, who sacrificed himself to save humanity from destruction at the hands of Chaos. What remains of his shattered body is interred on Earth in a device known as the Golden Throne. Though his body is quite dead, and has been for ten thousand years, the Golden Throne has kept his powerful soul and mind alive. Now, even in silent death, he still watches over and guides his people.
That's pretty much what the skull is about. It's a holy icon. If you look at the rest of my model, and any other Imperial models for that matter, you'll see skulls everywhere. On his shield, shoulder armor, belt buckle, you name it.

Yeah, I did notice the skulls, I just didn't make comments about them because I just thought it's a 'cool factor' or something shallow. But wow, now suddenly they're impressive! Haha.
