Just out Journal if you want in. It's just for fun, but great for practice and to see what everyone comes up with when working with the same image...

Okay I thought I would send this here instead of on nightwing's pebbles jam

The thing is, it could be software related, it could be hardware related, or it could be monitor related.

Video drivers allow some changing of software. You can also make changes to your software after using a PC game (and sometimes that's the only software that will allow you to make those changes back!).
It could be hardware related but this is similar to monitor related. The difference here is that it could be the video card itself that has settings to optimize for a darker hue (However I THINK this can still be changed via software)
It could be your monitor. Most monitors have a "warm" setting and other "lighter" settings (meaning "warm" is deeper and richer colors while "lighter" means what it suggests. Some will have an auto-adjust setting.
Interestingly, my step mother was a Bahamian woman who lived in Florida most of her life, and she would think MY version of pebbles isn't realistic or colored enough and yours is just right.
