What exactly is a ghast?

A ghast, or gast as we say in swedish basically is a ghost. The dead rising with burning skulls. I am sure that there are hundreds of versions of that theme but I am really into norse lore and that kind of stuff.
Giving this guy a katana like blade and sneakers really goes against it but hey ^^Sometimes I take some creative freedom :3
